My Coin Diplomacy

Coin collecting was the hobby of Kings. Now coin collection or numismatic has grown as a great hobby of millions of collector around the world. You can start this hobby collecting coins that find around you. Later you can ask your friends for coins buy coins from vendors, exchange coins with other collectors. Here I am buying coins and selling the extra ones I come across. You can buy from me and offer me coins that you have in spare!

Are you a coin collector or a collector who collect coins for your school projects? Then you buy 3 – 5 packets of coins from me or other collectors and arrange them date wise, country wise or theme wise. Now you have got a valuable coin collection.

Coins are very good collectibles. Coins last very long, and its value will increase day by day. The coins I bought in 1990s cost around 10-20 times today. Yes it is an investment for future.

India has got a great coin heritage. The history of Indian coinage starts around 400 years back. There are coins from our kings, British, Portuguese, Greek and other invaders.

History of stamp collecting

Postage stamp collecting began at the same time that stamps were firstTop-1 issued by their country, and by 1860 thousands of collectors and stamp dealers were appearing around the world as this new study and hobby spread across Europe, European colonies the United States and other parts of the world. The first postage stamp, the Penny Black, was issued by Britain in 1840 and pictured a young Queen Victoria. It was produced without perforations (imperforate) and consequently had to be cut from the sheet with scissors in order to be used. While unused examples of the "Penny Black" are quite scarce, used examples are quite common, and may be purchased for $20 to $200, depending upon condition.

Postage stamps and postal history of Portuguese India

Just now I have visited a group called Postage stamps and postal history of Portuguese India on Facebook pages. I just liked the page and would like to introduce the same to you. The postal history of Portuguese India goes back to the earlier days of the colony. Top-1The postal history begins with communication between the Viceroy and the Court at Lisbon soon after the conquest of Old Goa by Afonso de Albuquerque in 1510. Letters, written in triplicate, were carried by separate ships because of the hazards of the voyage. Mail was carried by an overland route, as well. The early communications of Portuguese India had an official character and the correspondence is now to be found in museums and governmental and ecclesiastical archives. Regular mail is known to have been exchanged with Lisbon from 1825 on. Portuguese Indian postmarks are known from 1854, when a post office opened in Goa and an extraterritorial British East India Company post office opened in Damaun. A Portuguese Indian post office opened at Diu, also, in 1880. Before the Universal Postal Union was established in 1874, a country had to conclude a separate postal treaty with each other country with which it transacted international mail. Portugal had a postal convention with Great Britain, so mail was routed through Bombay and carried on British packets.

Sandafayre Stamp Atlas

Stamp collection or Philately is becoming a serious hobby. A collector must know the details of stamps in his/her hand and the missing and pending stamps. It is almost impossible to assemble a collection of stamps without some knowledge of the political history of the country. For the postal historian, knowledge of geographical changes and history is an essential part of his study. It was this problem of locating the relevant information which led the late Stuart Rossiter and John Flower who had collaborated on the famous Blue Guides to propose a Stamp Atlas. The story of each territory is narrated chronologically, but it can be cross-referenced to any other country by using similar time bands in other territories. It is intended as a work of general reference and one which will lead to a greater understanding of the boundary changes, stamp issues, and policies which have taken place. For the balance, no single work of reference was used, but the compilation would not have been possible without reference to the following books: The Encyclopedia of British Empire Postage Stamps, Volumes I to V by Robson Lowe; The International Encyclopedia of Stamps, edited by James Mackay; The Times Atlas of World History; The History of the British Army Postal Service, Volumes I to III, published by Edward Proud; Haydn's Dictionary of Dates, 1903; Stanley Gibbons Catalogues, both Simplified and Specialized and the Encyclopedia of Military History by Dupuy and Dupuy. If you are a philatelist or have some kind of stamps with you it is better to have this Stamp Atlas. The Stamp Atlas is published by Sandafayre and it is very much affordable. The Stamp Atlas is available on CD priced £10.00, plus £1.50 postage and packing.

Please contact by email stamp@sandafayre.com to order the CD.
